The Portuguese Health System’s Observatory (OPSS – Observatório Português dos Sistemas de Saúde) looks at a health system development in Portugal in an ongoing base. It focuses particularly on the analysis of health governance in the country, in the context of Europe and global development in this area.

The OPSS is a university based network arrangement, involving four Portuguese academic centres. It produces yearly, every spring since 2001, a program report on the evolution of the Portuguese health system.

The English section of OPSS portal includes:

·          a summary of Portuguese health system (updated every 3 months)

·          a selected English written documents on the Portuguese health system

·          theoretical and methodological constitution from Portuguese institutions to the analysis of health system and health governance

The English version of OPSS portal will be progressively extended in order to become a reference constitution to information and knowledge related to health system development in Europe.
